Chelsea star Eden Hazard has told reporters that he is happy at Stamford Bridge ‘for now’ amid reports linking him to Santiago Bernabeu.
The Belgian star has put an end to speculations that he might follow his Belgian teammate — Thibaut Courtois — to Real Madrid before the general close of the summer transfer window.
The 27-year-old midfielder hasn’t started any Premier League match this season but revealed to newsmen that he is glad working under Maurizio Sarri this season.
According to the playmaker via Sky Sports, he is happy at the moment and he wouldn’t want to talk about his long-term future. He still has two years left in his contract with the Blues and he is not thinking of renewing it nor terminating it.
He said that the Blues hierarchy won’t think of sanctioning his move to Santiago Bernabeu this summer, considering the fact that they can’t get a replacement until January.
“The transfer market in England is closed. Clubs can still sell players, but not sign new ones anymore. It would be a bit strange that they would sell me now while they can’t sign a replacement.” he was quoted by Sky Sports.
The midfielder has failed to start any game for the Blues since Sarri took over from Conte, but he has been influential for the team whenever he comes off the bench.
Hazard came off the bench to score against Huddersfield in their League opener.
Though he didn’t score against Arsenal on Saturday, the playmaker assisted the goal which helped the team to a last-minute victory over their bitter rivals.
