‘Now I Can Attack’ – Chelsea Striker Blames Conte’s Tactics For His Goal Drought

Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata has finally revealed the reason behind his uninspiring form throughout last season as he blames Conte’s tactical approach.

The player had a blistering start to his Chelsea career as he found the back of the net in seven occasions after seven matches.

His impressive goalscoring record was halted by a short-term injury which ruled him out of action for just three weeks.

After returning to action from injury, the Spaniard couldn’t continue from where he stopped as he hardly finds the back of the net in the second half of the season.

He managed to score three goals in 23 matches, making him lost out on Lopetegui’s World Cup squad in May.

According to the player Conte’s “direct” style of play didn’t bring the best out of him. He said the former Chelsea boss wanted his players to protect the ball directly in the air – which wasn’t his playing style.

“The most important thing is the way we play. Last season it was direct balls and for me to protect the ball in the air is not my best quality,” he told Sky Sports.

He was linked with a return to Juventus during the summer window but the 25-year-old rejected the offer from the Scudetto Champions, claiming he wants to justify his price tag under Sarri this season.

After scoring against the Gunners in their 3-2 victory over the Gunners, Morata said he can now play to his best quality because he’s being given the chance to attack the space and run to meet the ball.

“Now I can attack the space, I can play one touch and go in the area for the crosses. It’s better for me,” he admitted.

English Premier League outfit Man United have been told to move in for Chelsea star N’Golo Kante in this summer transfer window.

The advice was given by Tony Cascarino who claims that the France international could be forced out of Chelsea if a huge bid is submitted for his signature.

It is widely believed that the former Leicester City midfielder is unhappy at Stamford Bridge as he was forced away from his natural defensive role by manager Maurizio Sarri to favour Jorginho.

The speculation adds that N’Golo Kante was a shadow of himself as a result of the treatment by the former Napoli boss.

However, Man United have been told of the possibility of securing the signature of the World Cup winner if they are willing to pay big.

Tony Cascarino on Times column says the Red Devils are in need of quality players as well as a transformation of mentality.

He stressed that many of the players act like they do Man United a favour for playing at Old Trafford and that is not a good mentality going forward.

Meanwhile, manager Ole Gunnar Solskajer has made it clear that he would be flushing some players out of the club as they have not shown commitment to playing for the club

Jorginho

Now that Italian manager Maurizio Sarri will not be with West London outfit Chelsea, it is feared that one player would be leaving with him.

It would be recalled that the Italian boss joined the Stamford Bridge from Serie A Outfit Napoli and came along with Jorginho to the team.

He did not only come in with the Italian midfielder but he took him straight into the team and gave him better stead than N’Golo Kante, a development that angered the fans and resulted to controversial talks.

It seems to have been established that Jorginho has a special place in the heart of the boss and could end up joining him at Juventus.

Latest reports claim that Maurizio Sarri is considering to bring the former Napoli midfielder into his Juventus team so that they can continue working together.

Meanwhile, Jorginho is not the only one wanted by the 60-year-old boss as Emerson is also on the wish list with claims that he has already approached the Old Lady management to make a move.

It is now unsure if Chelsea will let go of the two, knowing that they are currently under a transfer ban and will not be able to replace them for the next two windows.

Latest reports claim that West London outfit Chelsea young striker Martell Taylor-Crossdale is already in Germany to seal a deal with Bundesliga outfit Hoffenheim.

The 19-year-old will now be the next British younger to join the Bundesliga outfit after Jadon Sancho.

Jadon Sancho had left Man City to join the Bundesliga giants and he has already become a big success to have been linked with a number of top teams in Europe.

Sky Sports reports that Martell Taylor-Crossdale will undergo a medical ahead of a permanent move to the club but the date was not speculated in the report.

Martell Taylor-Crossdale is not a new name in the Chelsea household as he has been with the team for 11 years where he has been progressing through the different age grades.

He was the top scorer in the Under-18 Premier League in 2017 and has been impressive in other ranks as he scored for England at every level from U16 to U20.

Taylor-Crossdale is out of contract at the end of the month and the West London outfit will not keep him, according to reports.

Chelsea have got transfer issues but the exit of the youngster will obviously have no effect on the team as it is sure that he cannot break out of the team.

Gonzalo Higuain

It has now been confirmed that Gonzalo Higuain will not be staying at the Stamford Bridge after his loan deal.

It was earlier expected that the West London outfit will take up the option of keeping the Argentina international on a permanent deal but his agent who is also his brother Nicolas said the striker only wants to play for Juventus in Italy.

He made this claim while reacting to interest from AS Roma for the star striker as he stressed that the 31-year-old still has a contract with the Old Lady.

This leaves the Blues team with limited options in the attack ahead of the coming season as they might not be able to bring in a replacement in this summer window.

Chelsea have been handed a transfer ban that stops them from registering new players in the next two transfer windows and that has not been upturned as at the time of writing this report.

The Blues team will be left with no option than to rely on France international Olivier Giroud and also return Tammy Abraham to the team from his loan spell with Aston Villa.

However, Chelsea will have to sort out having a new manager as Maurizio Sarri might be on his way out.

The father of Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri, who is an ex-cyclist said he hopes his son is able to land the deal as Juventus manager this summer window

Ex-cyclist Amerigo is of the opinion that the future of his son is still uncertain despite being linked already as he insists that his son is also unsure at the moment.

Amerigo told Ilbianconero.com that the former Napoli boss is yet to be confirmed as Juventus manager, hence he is still a Chelsea coach until an official announcement is made but he hinted that he wishes his son returns to Italy for the coming season.

However, Maurizio Sarri only joined the West London outfit in the last summer transfer window and that could be the end for him after just a year as he had a rough reign at the Stamford Bridge, ranging from inconsistent results and issues with fans.

Juventus had just parted ways with their manager Max Allegri after he failed to deliver a Champions League even after he won the Serie A title in the last campaign.

Meanwhile, Maurizio Sarri is expected to be confirmed in coming days after claims that an agreement has been reached between the Old Lady and the Blues team.

Jose Mourinho could return to Stamford Bridge

Timothy Aiyeku

This is not the news Chelsea fans might be expecting as it is far from what should be believed but former manager Jose Mourinho is already being linked for a shock return to Stamford Bridge.

It is no longer news that Chelsea are already in the market for a new manager as they are set to part ways with manager Maurizio Sarri who seems to have agreed on a new deal with Italian Serie A outfit Juventus.

Maurizio Sarri did not find his stay at the West London outfit palatable and he would not think twice as he informed the club of his willingness to leave.

Former player Frank Lampard has been linked with a return to the Stamford Bridge to take charge of the club with claims that talks are ongoing and it could be finalized any moment from now.

Despite the positives about his reported return, it has been claimed that former manager Jose Mourinho is available for the job and that means he would be returning for the third spell.

This will come with mixed feelings from the fans as some will no longer desire to have the Portuguese manager return again.

Jose Mourinho was sacked as Man United boss in December last year and he has since been without a job with claims that he had turned down offers because the clubs have no required ambition.
