‘Welcome To Stamford Bridge’: Chelsea To Break Record For Star Player, Unveiling Today Or Tomorrow

Kepa Arrizabalaga

Chelsea are all but set to partway with Thibaut Courtois as they have agreed on a record-breaking £72m deal for Athletic Bilbao goaltender  Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Report broke out this afternoon that the 23-year-old has reached an agreement with the Blues and he is on his way to  Stamford Bridge for his Medicals.

According to Daily Mail and all other rumour mongers, Chelsea are going to unveil him to the fans tomorrow, should everything go on as plan.

It is believed that Real Madrid were keen on his signature but they were unable to trigger his release clause.

However, the Los Blancos will complete their longtime move for Belgium goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois in coming days.

According to the Mirror last night, Chelsea are unwilling to loose Courtois on a free transfer in the next summer window, so they decide to cash-in on his signature.

The Los Blancos are reportedly going to pay nothing less than £35m to the Blues for Courtois signature.

Should he eventually complete his move to the West London clinic tomorrow, Kepa would become the most expensive goalie in the world ahead of Alisson Becker, who joined Liverpool from Roma in a £65m deal last month.

Kepa would surely be Chelsea’s first-choice goalkeeper ahead of Willy Caballero, which is known to be an error-prone goalie during his stay at the Etihad Stadium.

Summer Signing Rob Green will be pushed to the third position in the goaltender’s ranking at Stamford Bridge.

Former Manchester United striker Michael Owen will not forget the past records manager Jose Mourinho has had at the Stamford Bridge since joining the Red Devils and he will not give him a chance on Saturday.

Mourinho travels with his boys to the Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea in the Premier League game.

Since his leaving Chelsea as their manager, Mourinho has never won a game at the Stamford Bridge as an opposition and Owen thinks the same will repeat itself knowing the unstable state of the United team.

It is also important to note that in addition to the fine form of the Blues side, they are yet to be beaten in the Premier League this season and have lost just once at home in their last 16 games at the Stamford Bridge.

Owen stated that the United game against Newcastle where the Mourinho side had come from behind to secure a win I worthy of note which will make the game a good one to see.

However, The West London side will hope on their fine record and a great form of Belgium star player Eden Hazard who has been the man for the team this season to fire again against their visitors.

chelsea vs man united

New Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri and his players face another test of their Premier League title credentials when they welcome ailing Manchester United to Stamford Bridge in a Matchday 9 clash on Saturday lunchtime.

The Blues have already passed previous tests against other top four rivals like Arsenal and Liverpool in flying colours with four points from those two games but Manchester United will present a different kind of opposition to the Italian tactician and his wards.

To start with, Manchester United are expected to adopt a more defensive approach for the game than what was obtainable when Chelsea faced Arsenal and Liverpool in Matchday 2 and Matchday 7 respectively.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho will be hoping he can effectively execute his defensively tactical style which relies heavily on set pieces.

Ahead of the game, Sarri is expected to retain the same side from the last league match at Southampton, while Mourinho is expected to make several changes from the 3-2 comeback win over Newcastle United at home in their last league game.

Probable Chelsea XI: Kepa Arrizabalaga; Cesar Azpilicueta, Gary Cahill, David Luiz, Marcos Alonso; N’Golo Kante, Jorginho, Ross Barkley; Willian, Olivier Giroud, Eden Hazard.

Probable Manchester United XI: David De Gea; Antonio Valencia, Chris Smalling, Victor Lindelof, Luke Shaw; Fred, Marouane Fellaini, Paul Pogba; Juan Manuel Mata, Romelu Lukaku, Marcus Rashford.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has been told to expect a good atmosphere at the Stamford Bridge when his side come visiting on Saturday in the Premier League encounter.

According to him, the fans are yet to forget the good memories Mourinho gave to them as they will forever appreciate him for all he has done.

However, he noted that the fans will not be carried away by supporting the Portuguese manager once the whistle is blown as everyone will be expected to line up where they truly belong.

The Blues legend, however, predicts that the home side will take the day because his former side looks better and have shown what they are capable of in their previous games.

Chelsea are second in the Premier League table with 20 points while United are seven points away from their Saturday host having lost three games so far in the league after 8 matches.

The Red Devils have been troubled with crisis and bad results which has resulted into bad game on the field.

sarri

Chelsea boss, Maurizio Sarri has noted that Hazard need not to join the Spanish giants before winning the Ballon d’Or award.

The future of the Belgium international at the Stamford Bridge has been subjected to speculations with the player hinting on leaving the club.

Hazard had earlier refused to sign a new deal with the Blues before having a change of heart following his new form under manager Sarri.

Hazard recently said he is ready to have talks with the club so as to lay all speculations linking him away to rest.

There are suggestions that the Belgium international remains happy at the Stamford Bridge but seeks a move away from the club because of his wish to win the Ballon d’Or award.

There are insinuations that a player can only win the Ballon d’Or award if he plays in the biggest clubs in Spain and Hazard must have bought into that.

However, the Italian boss stated that it is possible for the player to win a trophy while playing in England under Chelsea.

He stressed that Hazard has a good chance once they are able to deliver the Champions League title as well as Belgium emerging as the European champions.
