Chelsea Young defender Fikayo Tomori, who spent last season on loan at Hull City, has reportedly joined Derby County in another loan deal ahead of next season.
Derby County manager Frank Lampard played for the Blues during his active days as a player and he is hoping to explore the relationship he shares with the club in bringing some of their youngsters to his team.
According to Football Insider, the England international has successfully reached an agreement with the Blues for the player’s signature.
As part of the report, Tomori is presently having his Medicals with the club and the deal would be officially confirmed by both clubs via their official website once he completes his medicals.
Having joined Chelsea academy since 2005, the 20-year-old defender progressed through the ranks until he made his first-team debut against Leicester City in the 2015-16 season when he replaced Branislav Ivanovic in the 60th minute of the encounter.
Despite his first appearance for the senior team, Tomori couldn’t get much game-time under Antonio Conte in the 2016-17 season due to the presence of more experienced and reliable defenders in the team.
The youngster would be hoping to make a statement with Derby in the coming season by helping the team gain promotion back to the Premier League by the end of the 2018-19 season.
During his time at Hull City last season, Tomori played 26 matches, assisting two goals in the process.
