Willian Could Still Join Manchester United Despite Sarri’s Confirmation

Published

Willian’s future at Stamford Bridge is still up in the air despite Sarri’s confirmation that the 29-year-old winger won’t be leaving the club this summer.

Manchester United manager José Mourinho is the player’s potential destination ahead of the coming season but the Blues are doing all they could to ensure they prevent the Portuguese the chance to reunite with the Brazilian star – whom he lured to Stamford Bridge in 2013.

With four days to the close of the ongoing transfer market, United have intensified their move for his signature but the Blues are giving a deaf hear to every offer they are receiving from the Old Trafford outfits.

The Daily Mirror are reporting that the Red Devils manager is not giving up on his desire to caput the workaholic winger this summer irrespective of Chelsea’s uninspiring responds to all his initials bids for him.

Though United made some high-profile signings – Alexis Sanchez – during the winter window, they were not impressive from the flanks throughout last season.

As a way to find lasting solutions to his team’s less-inspiring performance from the wings ahead of next season, Mourinho is keen on the Brazilian player, and the Mirror claimed that United won’t pull out of the player’s signature until the end of the summer on Thursday.

Why I am happy to have worked with Sarri at Napoli, Dries Mertens

Mertens Dries

Napoli striker Dries Mertens is one of those players who have missed current Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri at the club.

Sarri left the Italian club to the Stamford Bridge at the summer and was replaced by Carlo Ancelotti.

Ancelotti has been praised by the club for doing a good job especially after he helped defeat inform-Liverpool by a lone goal in the Champions League game this season.

However, Sarri still remains in the heart of the players and is obviously being missed no wonder striker Dries Mertens could not hide it in his words when asked whom he prefers working with between the former and the present managers.

Mertens declined from saying he preferred one to another but the question was already answered from his lines when he said he “had fun” under Sarri.

He added that Sarri’s style of football was “practically written on me” because he had liked, enjoyed and embraced it.

The Napoli striker was quick to say that his comment has nothing to do with the current manager whom he said he gets along with as his manager.

Meanwhile, Mertens said he is happy at Napoli and has not considered any offer from any club, noting he has a contract until June 2020.

England vs Spain

England manager Gareth Southgate will make at least two changes to his starting lineup from the Croatia game when his side travels to Spain to take on Luis Enrique’s team in a UEFA Nations League clash on Monday night.

Liverpool skipper Jordan Henderson and Manchester City centre-back John Stones are suspended for the game scheduled to take place at the Estadio Benito Villamarin Stadium in the Seville part of Spain.

Both players picked up their second booking of the competition and will miss the crucial game as a result.

Liverpool defender Joe Gomez has played very well for the Reds and was one of the best players for England in the last meeting between both sides at the Wembley Stadium last month.

Manchester United star Marcus Rashford gave the Three Lions the lead off an assist from club teammate Luke Shaw before first half goals from the Spanish duo of Saul Niguez and Rodrigo overturned the result in Spain’s favour as they held on for the 2-1 advantage.

In the absence of Henderson, in-form Leicester City midfielder James Maddison is likely to take his place in the starting XI.

Spain vs England XI: Jordan Pickford; Kyle Walker, Joe Gomez, Harry Maguire, Ben Chilwell; Eric Dier, Ross Barkley, James Maddison; Raheem Sterling, Marcus Rashford, Harry Kane.

Why I am not the best, Eden Hazard

hazard kane

Chelsea star player Eden Hazard has admitted he is not the best player in the world despite praise and claims made by his manager.

Giving reasons for his statement, the Belgium international stated that to be the best player in the world, you have to score the most goals and that might not be the case yet in his case.

Hazard might be Chelsea’s current highest goal scorer this season with 7 Premier League goals scored in 8 games but he has never won the league’s golden boot which limits him from falling in the ranks of the bests.

He, therefore, adds that manager Maurizio Sarri was right to have demanded more improvements in his game especially in the area of goalscoring.

Meanwhile, Hazard revealed that everything about football for the Chelsea’s Italian manager is all about possession, adding that the manager’s style differs from former club coaches, Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte.

The Belgium star revealed that Sarri becomes angry if you don’t have the ball in five minutes as he wants the ball to move across all angles on the pitch.

Sarri joined the Blues in the summer from Italian outfit Napoli and has since changed the face of football at the Stamford Bridge with his introduction of possession football.

Transfer News: Arsenal Linked With Chelsea Midfield Maestro

Ruben Loftus-Cheek

North London giants Arsenal have reportedly been linked with a move for Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek ahead of the upcoming transfer window in January.

England international player Loftus-Cheek has found first team opportunities hard to come by at Stamford Bridge and he’s keen on leaving in search of regular football.

His best run in the first team came while he was at fellow London club Crystal Palace.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek spent the last campaign at Selhurst Park on a season-long loan deal from the Blues and he produced several impressive outings for the Eagles.

His form earned him a spot on the England team for this summer’s FIFA World Cup tournament in Russia.

He was part of the Three Lions squad that finished fourth under manager Gareth Southgate.

Loftus-Cheek wants to retain his place in the England squad and the only way to play club football regularly hence his decision to seek more first team opportunities.

According to the Daily Mail, Crystal Palace are interested in signing him on loan when the January transfer window reopens but the Selhurst Park outfit could face competition from London rivals Arsenal.

He could be a replacement for Arsenal contract rebel Aaron Ramsey who’s reportedly on his way out of the club.
