The Inter Milan midfielder has expressed his desire to one day test his mettle in the Premier League which he considers
“the biggest of all leagues”.
This recent concession by the Croatia international has ensured that Manchester United fans remain on their toe for a transfer, in a season in which coach Jose Mourinho has been discontent about his club’s transfer dealings.
He has however hinted at the arrival of only one player and the fans are hoping it is Perisic.
The 29-year-old only last year signed a five-year contract with the Italian giants and maintains that he is happy at San Siro at the moment, but on the back of his impressive performance at the 2018 World Cup in Russia, he admits that he might consider the option of a transfer if a “big club” calls and all stakeholders reach a mutual agreement.
Speaking to Sportske novosti, he said “I heard some clubs want me but they have to talk to my club and only after that could I join the negotiations and decide.
“If I was to change club, it could only be to a top league and top club.”
A little while later, he added
“Honestly, I would like to test myself in all of the biggest leagues but the question is will I have the time, I am 29 and working to extend my career as long as I can.
If they want me, they know where to find me!”
It is on record that Jose Mourinho has been keen on adding Perisic to his ranks for some time having first pursued his signature in the summer of 2017. If there’s ever a time he could get his man, with the door ajar, it seems the time is now.
