There have been reactions from pundits and fans over Chelsea’s 2-0 defeat to Manchester City in today’s Community Shield.
Manchester City dominated their Blue counterpart throughout the encounter and they were rewarded with a goal via Sergio Aguero, who scored two goals to give the Citizens their first silverware of the season.
Though the Blues were collectively handicapped against the Premier League title holder, want-away striker Alvaro Morata has been singled out for blame by most pundits.
According to Dunne in his reflection on the match, the striker disappeared throughout the game as if his mind was elsewhere.
The Pundit questioned Morata’s reliability ahead of the upcoming season.
Having seen the player’s performance, Dunne advised Maurizio Sarri to get new striker who will be willing to play his heart for the team before the end of the season.
‘Sarri needs a centre forward, someone he can rely on up front. I don’t see that in Morata, I don’t see the desire to be a team player.’ he said
Apart from Dunne, other pundits, including Rio Ferdinand, criticized the former Juventus striker for not being able to make City’s defence tremble in a single moment.
Though community shield appears to be a mere friendly game, Sarri must be ready to make some changes to his team before the start of the 2018-19 season properly.
Just as Dunne advised, Sarri needs to intensify his move for Bayern Munich forward Munich striker Robert Lewandowski so as to get the great goalpoacher this summer.
