Manchester United’s world cup-winning midfielder Paul Pogba is set to remain at Old Trafford despite his unhealthy relationship with José Mourinho.
The Frenchman rejoined the Old Trafford from Juventus in 2016 but he hasn’t lived up to expectations, though, he helped the team to a Europa League trophy in the same year.
His rift with the Portuguese manager created speculations that he could be heading out of the club this summer.
To fuel the speculation, Mourinho dropped Pogba from his starting eleven for more than five matches as he integrated young and inexperience Scottish midfielder Scott McTominay into his starting lineup ahead of the Frenchman.
However, report claimed that Barcelona are hoping to get the player this summer as they are looking to fortify their midfield’s setup in the coming season.
The Catalans witnessed the departure of their long-serving captain Andres Iniesta last month, they are now looking at the 25-year-old’s direction to become his replacement.
Fortunately for United, the Blaugranas have pulled out of the race for Pogba’s services, according to Sport via The Daily Express.
The media outlets are reporting that Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde has turned his attention away from the player as he is now targeting a move for Ajax youngster Frenkie De Jong or Adrien Rabiot, who plays for Paris St-German
