Arsenal Star Lucas Perez might be offloaded by the Gunners this summer having failed to reach the level he hoped for while signing for the club two years ago.
The striker was tipped by many pundits and fans to become one of the top midfielders in the Premier League in his first season at Emirates Stadium as they believed he will learn from more experienced players like Aaron Ramsey, Mesut Ozil and Olivier Giroud — before he went to Chelsea — but that wasn’t the case.
Contrary to what many fans expected, the youngster couldn’t get much game-time under Wenger due to intense competition for a place in the team coupled with Mesut Ozil’s blistering form throughout the 2016-17 season.
Despite all odds, Perez was able to score seven goals in 21 matches he played with the team.
Having experienced how hard it was to feature in Wenger’s starting lineup in his first season, the player was loaned out to Spanish club Deportivo La Coruña during last season.
He performed brilliantly with the La Liga side and is now being tracked by Lazio, who are hoping to bolster their midfield’s setup with the player’s signature.
According to reports making headlines in Italy, the Serie A side are ready to release €8m to the Gunners so as to get him before the close of the ongoing transfer market.
Arsenal defeated Chelsea last night via penalties in one of their pre-season matches, they will take on Lazio in their final pre-season game on Sunday ahead of next season.
