Chelsea have been dealt a huge blow in their race to sign Juventus striker Gonzalo Higuain this summer.
It was reported last week via Tutto Sport that the Blues are leading the chase after his signature and they might confirm his signature this week.
However, there is a twist to the player’s future as Sky Sport are reporting that the Argentine forward has Agreed to join AC Milan on a season-long loan deal despite interest from Maurizio Sarri, who coached him during his days as Napoli manager.
According to the British media, the 30-year-player will join the San Siro outfits on loan but the Serie A side might pay £32m to sign him on a permanent basis in subsequent seasons, should he perform brilliantly in the coming season.
As part of the agreement between Milan and Juventus, the Old Lady will see their former player Leonardo Bonucci returns to them while their defender Mattia Caldara — who is being tracked by the Blues — will move to the Rossoneri.
Should AC Milan finally complete the deal, the Blues might be forced to hasten their move for Bayern Munich Star striker Robert Lewandowski, who is said to cost more than £80m.
The Polish striker serves as an alternative to the Argentine striker ahead of the upcoming season.
