Liverpool want-away goalkeeper Simon Mignolet is reportedly getting interested from an unlikely suitor – Barcelona.
Catalans are in a surprise move for the Belgian goaltender this summer as they seek a replacement for their second-choice netminder Jasper Cillessen, who is set to move out of Camp Nou on a permanent basis.
British media outlet Sky Sport are claiming that Barcelona manager Valverde is ready to take a gamble with the goalie’s signature ahead of the upcoming season.
Despite being at Anfield for five years, the 30-year-old was pushed to the substitute bench by Loris Karius during the second half of last season due to his consistent errors.
Karius Loris, who replaced the Belgian goaltender in Klopp’s starting lineup, is also an error-prone goalie and that has made the manager spent huge amounts on Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson Becker this summer.
Having captured the Roma goalkeeper for £65m, it is obvious that the world’s most expensive goalkeeper will become Klopp’s first-choice while Karius automatically become the second choice goalie and Mignolet becomes third.
Meanwhile, Besiktas have shown their desire to sign the goaltender as a replacement for Fabri – whom they sold to Fulham earlier in the month.
Klopp will be more than ready to sanction his move away from the Anfield Stadium this summer, so as to recover some of the cash he’s spent so far on new players.
