Russian star player Aleksandr Golovin has finally put an end to the speculations surrounding his future as he has officially joined Monaco this afternoon.
The 22-year-old striker was one of the youngest strikers during the world cup — hosted in his homeland — but that didn’t take anything away from his ability to get past defenders, create goalscoring chances and also score goals.
He was an inspiration to the host country, who qualified to the quarter-final round of the tournament for the first time in history.
His showings at the Mundial didn’t go unnoticed by top premier League clubs as Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United developed interest in his services.
The Blues even went a step further by making an official offer to CSKA Moscow for the player’s services.
Apart from Premier League clubs, Serie A Champions Juventus and PSG both showed their desire to capture the player before the start of the 2018-19 season but none of them were able to complete the move for the forward.
According to reports from France on Sunday, Monaco has come from behind to snatch the player from CSKA’s radar.
The Ligue 1 side surprisingly convinced the player to join them despite mouthwatering bids from Chelsea and Juventus. He signed a five-year contract with the club in a deal which is believed to be £30m
