Chelsea Turned Attention To Juventus Centre-back Mattia Caldara
The Blues are running against time to complete their move for Juventus defender Daniele Rugani but the Serie A champions are not ready to accept any low price for his signature.
The Italian defender has been Chelsea’s target since Conte was in charge of the club but the former Juventus manager couldn’t capture his signature until he was shown the club’s exit door this month.
Despite changing manager, Rugani remains the Blues’ prime target as Maurizio Sarri hope to use explore his relationship with the player to lure him to the Stamford Bridge.
Having failed to convince the player to join him at the West London club, Sarri has reportedly turned his attention to another Juventus defender Mattia Caldara.
According to Corriere dello Sport, Chelsea have officially tabled a £35m offer to the Scuddetto Champions for his signature.
Caldara spent last season on loan at Atalanta BC and he could be heading to the Blues on a permanent deal this season.
However, Chelsea will need to beat Inter Milan for the Italian international.
Having returned to the Champions League for the first time in recent years, the San Siro outfits are ready to upgrade their playing positions this summer and Caldara is reportedly their first target.
