Jose Mourinho still has interest in Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld despite being denied the chance by Tottenham to sign him last season.
Alderweireld failed to impress under Mauricio Pochettino for the whole of last term— no thanks to his injury worries– and he was left on the substitute bench for most of the season.
Having failed to get the best from Luke Shaw during the previous season, Mourinho showed his desire to snatch Alderweireld from the North London club last month but his bid was rejected by the Argentine manager.
Though Pochettino didn’t have a great relationship with the experienced full-back, the manager isn’t ready to sanction his switch to Old Trafford due to the rivalry between both clubs.
However, the latest reports claim that the Tottenham manager is now ready to ignore the rivalry between both clubs by letting go of the player on one condition.
According to the Sun, the manager wants the Red Devils to include Anthony Martial as a makeshift in their bid for Alderweireld’s signature.
The British media also claimed that Tottenham are not going to approve Alderweireld’s move to Old Trafford except Martial is involved in the deal or they pay £55m for him.
Just like Alderweireld, Martial wasn’t used regularly by José Mourinho and he’s tipped by reporters to be heading out of the team, with Chelsea, Juventus, Tottenham and Paris St-German vying for his services.
