Chelsea In Unexpected Move For Rob Green.
Chelsea were surprisingly linked with a move for former Liverpool netminder Pepe Reina yesterday as they search for a capable replacement for Thibaut Courtois who is on his way to have his medicals with Real Madrid ahead of his much-speculated move to Santiago Bernabeu.
There is a more shocking report this morning as former England’s first choice goalkeeper Rob Green is being linked with a switch to the Stamford Bridge this summer.
The 38-year-old was England’s first-choice goaltender during 2010 world cup in South Africa where the team failed to impress. Though Green could be as good as David De Gea on his days, he is prone to errors and he could fumble at any time.
According to the latest reports in various transfer media this morning, the Blues are set to make move for the former QPR star but it remains unknown if they would want to pay big for his signature.
The netminder started his career with Norwich City, where he made 200 appearances before heading to QPR where he failed to establish himself as regular starter.
He was part of Huddersfield team during the last campaign but he didn’t make any League appearances for the team throughout the season.
I’m not taking anything away from Green’s experience and abilities but Chelsea are too high for the goalkeeper’s pedigree as the fans won’t pardon him once he makes errors.
He might even fail to get any competitive appearances for the club in the coming season.
