Simon Mignolet To Join Barcelona.
Barcelona second goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen is reportedly set to move out of Camp Nou this summer as he wants a switch to a club who would give him regular action.
Cillessen wasn’t rated by the Catalans manager Valverde throughout last season as the Argentine tactician failed to use him in any League matches, though he featured in all the Copa del Rey fixtures.
As a result of the goalkeeper’s speculated departure, the Catalan outfits are desperately in search of a possible replacement.
According to Spanish media Marca, Barcelona chief was targeting a move for Koen Casteels before he surprisingly cooled his interest in him.
However, according to the same source, the La Liga Champions are set to make move for Liverpool outcast Simon Mignolet this summer as the capable netminder to replace Cillessen, who is linked with a move to Chelsea.
The Belgian international lost his position to Loris Karius in the second half of last season after series of errors.
Mignolet is a great keeper who possesses all it takes to compete with top goalies in the world but he is seen as an error-prone netminder.
Having signed Alisson Becker on a six-year contract last night, it is certain that the Belgian will be pushed down the pecking order during the 2018-19 season.
As at the time of this report, Barcelona haven’t made any official bid for his signature but anything could happen before the end of the window
