Bad News For Chelsea as Everton Join Wilmar Barrios.
It was reported that Chelsea are keeping close tabs on Bocca Junior’s defensive midfielder Willmar Barrios, as they hope to provide strong defensive units for their new manager Maurizio Sarri ahead of the upcoming season season.
Barrios was phenomenal for Columbia during the world’s greatest football Fiesta in Russia and he is set to move to a European club this summer, following his impressive displays for the South American country.
The 24-year-old midfielder is also being tracked by Tottenham who are looking to replace Moussa Dembele this summer.
The North London club have reportedly given the Belgian star the green light to continue a discussion with other clubs over a possible move out of Wembley this summer. They are now looking at the possibility of snatching the Colombian international from Argentine side Bocca Junior as Dembele’s replacement.
However, according to TyC Sports, Everton have joined their Premier League counterparts in the chase after the 24-year-old’s signature as they want to return to the status they are known to be.
The Merseyside club hired Marco Silva in May after showing Sam Allardyce the exit door and the former Watford manager will be willing to rejuvenate his coaching career as well as restore the Toffee’s pride and class.
Barrios has a release clause of €18 million (£15.9m) in his contract but he could be on his way to Premier League next season.
