Confirmed Deal ; Liverpool complete the signing of Xherdan Shaqiri.
“Getting the player is no brainer, you can’t let go of such player when you’re in perfect condition to snatch him,” those are the statements made by Jurgen Klopp when asked the reason behind his move for Stoke City winger Xherdan Shaqiri.
The German tactician has unveiled the Switzerland international to the club’s faithful earlier yesterday after completing his £13m move for the player.
The experience player saw himself relegated to the Championship with Stoke City by the end of last season but he has refused to stay with the club in England’s second-tier league.
Knowing well that his contract with them will expire by the end of this year, the Potters hierarchy decides to cash-in on his signature by sealing a £13m deal with the Merseyside club on Thursday, according to the Daily Mail.
We reported here last night that the 30-year-old had his medicals at Anfield in the early hours of the day(Friday) and he penned a five-year contract with the team later in the day, having passed his medicals.
While revealing to the media on what he is expecting from his new acquisition, Jurgen Klopp said he wants to see more pacey football from his team’s attacking flanks in the coming season.
He believes Shaqiri would bring more pace, energy and desire to win back possessions from opponents.
With Shaqiri’s move already done and dusted, the Reds have now signed three players so far this summer and more players are still coming.
