Arsenal complete deal for Lucas Torreira
Arsenal Football Club have announced the arrival of Lucas Torreira from Italian outfit Sampdoria this afternoon.
The Gunners have held a long-term interest in the player and were apparently locked in talks with the Serie A side earlier this summer though a proposed agreement was shelved due to the player’s participation for Uruguay at the World Cup in Russia.
However, the Southern American side’s elimination to France in the quarterfinals of the Mundial has paved the way for the North Londoners to wrap up a move for the starlet.
It is understood the Gunners paid in the region of 26 million pounds for the player who now becomes the club’s fourth summer signing after the recent captures of Sokratis Papasthapoupolous, Bernard Leno and Stephan Lichsteiner
Manager Unai Emery is keen on revamping on all areas of his squad and is reportedly eyeing further additions with Freiburg center back Carlos Soyuncu also been mentioned with a move to the Emirates Stadium
The arrival of Torreira would add further solidity to the Gunners midfield and would represent a change to the club’s annual traditional hunt for creative midfielders.
Emery is also keen on a replacement for Jack Wilshere who joined West Ham and has reportedly made up a list of transfer options for the Englishman role.
