Chelsea have officially announced the singing of 17-year-old goaltender Nicolas Tie, according to the Blues official page.
The West London outfits believe there is a need to upgrade their youth setup this summer after being defeated by PSG in the UEFA Youth Champions League in two consecutive seasons.
It will surprise you that the teenage goalkeeper has been a source of transfer speculation since the age of 13, when clubs like Barcelona, Chelsea and Arsenal were hoping to add him to their respective academies.
According to the player himself, he has signed a three-year contract with the Blues which will keep him with the club till 2021.
The Blues emerged the player’s destination last season when they brought him from Ligue 1 side Poitiers.
Though Nicolas moved to the West London Club at 16, he was made to showcase his qualities before being offered his first professional contract, which they did last week.
Now that they have finally found a long-term solution to the goalkeeping crisis facing their youth team, the Blues will now shift their total attention to more pressing issues that require urgent attention from the board of directors.
They will need to hire a new manager as soon as possible, they will also need to get rid of some fringe players while they get their replacements.
The 17-year-old netminder will be hoping he maintains his steady development at the Cobham training ground so as to be involved in first-team actions for the Blues as soon as possible.
