Manchester United 22-year-old defender Luke Shaw wants to remain under José Mourinho beyond this summer despite sharing a sour relationship with the Portuguese man.
The England international left-back came under huge criticism from Mourinho during the previous season and many believe this summer transfer window will witness the player’s move out of Old Trafford.
That seems not to be the story as The Mirror are reporting that the former Southampton star wants to remain at the Theater of Dreams in the coming season to fight for his place in the gaffer’s starting lineup.
Despite not being a natural left-back, Ashley Young was deployed at the position ahead of Shaw, who has proven over the years as one of the best defenders in the League.
Though staying at Old Trafford looks like a bad decision from the young defender, however, he could regain Mourinho’s trust during the pre-season tour by giving all he has in the friendlies lined up for the Red Devils.
Shaw was left out of England’s world cup squad by Southgate due to his inactive role at Old Trafford prior to the tournament.
He would be hoping he makes a return back to Mourinho’s starting lineup in the upcoming season so as to help him reclaim a spot in England’s squad after the summer World Cup.
Considering Shaw as an injury-prone player, Mourinho might need to bring one or two left-back players to the team this summer.
