Arsenal are set to officially confirmed Borussia Dortmund’s defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos as their latest player according to Daily Star.
The experienced defender is a longtime target for Unai Emery since he took over from Arsene Wenger in May.
Sokratis, who has been with Borussia Dortmund since 2009, will be very happy to move to the Emirates Stadium considering his love to play for a Premier League club before the end of his active days as a player.
According to the British outlet, the Gunners have reached an agreement with the Bundesliga giants since last month but they were unable to unveil him due to some fiscal policy in Germany.
Now that the new German fiscal year has begun yesterday, the North London club are free to complete their move for the player by unveiling him to the fans of the club.
Sokratis would be charged with the responsibility of shielding the goalkeeper and helping him keep as many clean sheets as possible.
Daily Star confirmed that Arsenal fans will have a new defender before the day runs to an end as Sokratis’ signature would be confirmed by the club’s hierarchy.
It was earlier reported via the same source that Borussia Dortmund’s sporting director Michael Zorc revealed to newsmen that his club had already reached an agreement with the Gunners and they have sanctioned his move to the Emirates Stadium.
