Chelsea have been linked with a shock move for former Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo this summer.
The surprising rumor emanated in the late hours of yesterday as Spanish media outlet Diario Gol claimed that Maurizio Sarri is hopeful that the Portuguese striker would want to move to the Blues at the expense of the Old Trafford outfits, who have been monitoring his situation at Santiago Bernabeu for a while.
It is believed that the 33-year-old superstar is unhappy with Madrid’s decision to hire Lopetegui as Zidane’s replacement and he is currently considering making a move back to Premier League ahead of next season.
Cristiano Ronaldo broke into limelight during his time at the Theater of Dreams as he was the club’s top performer before his huge-money move to Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in 2009.
The Red Devils manager Jose Mourinho, who is also a Portugal international and his former instructor at Santiago Bernabeu, is being tipped as the favorite man to re-capture his signature but he will need to battle Chelsea for his services.
Diario Gol also revealed that Ligue 1 and Bundesliga Champions Paris St-German and Bayern Munich are also looking at the prospect of signing the proven goalscorer to their respective clubs before the start of next season.
However, the sport journal suggests that Ronaldo prefers a return to Premier League this summer but it remains to be seen who will eventually win his signature between the two Premier League giants.
