New Real Madrid manager  Julen Lopetegui has is eye on Liverpool star player Mohammed Salah’s signature as he hopes to build on the achievements recorded by his predecessor Zinedine Zidane during his reign as the Los Blancos manager.

Lopetegui, who lost his job as Spain National team coach a day after signing a contract with the Spanish League giants, is reportedly keen on bringing the Egyptian international to Santiago Bernabeu ahead of next season.

Salah enjoyed his most successful season since he became a professional player during last campaign as he found the back of the net in 44 times in all competitions.

Only Cristiano Ronaldo was able to score more goals than the Egyptian forward throughout the 2017-18 season.

Having failed to sign Neymar from Paris St-German due to the Ligue 1 club’s reluctant to hold onto the Brazilian’s signature, Florentino Perez and the new manager have turned their attention to the player as an alternative, that is according to Don Balon.

The Spanish media outlet also claimed that Lopetegui would start Salah alongside their star striker Cristiano Ronaldo in a 4-4-2 formation during the upcoming season.

Should both players fail to produce the desired result, Lopetegui won’t hesitate to drop the Portuguese striker in favour of the Egyptian who is younger and more defensive minded.
