Chelsea are being joined by Tottenham Hotspur in the race to sign Inter Milan midfielder Matias Vecino in the current transfer market.
Report emanating from Italy via Tuttosport claimed that the Blues will need to compete with the North London club for the 26-year-old player who is currently on international duties with Uruguay in Russia.
He featured in Uruguay’s 1-0 victory over Egypt on Friday to put the American nation at the summit of their group.
Chelsea showed interest in his signature during his stay at Fiorentina but all their moves to capture his services were unsuccessful as he joined Inter Milan last season.
Since his move to the San Siro Stadium, he featured in 29 matches in all competitions, scoring three goals and two assists in the process.
Despite spending just a season with the Serie A club, who are making a return to European scene for the first time in recent years, he is tipped with a move to Premier League next season.
Meanwhile, Everton are also eyeing a possible swoop for the player, according to the same source.
The Merseyside club changed their manager last month as Marco Silva replaced Sam Allardyce.
The change in manager has brought about an overhauling process which will see some players leave the club while some would be brought in to replace the departing ones.
To this effect, the £26m-rated midfielder is being chased by the former Watford manager ahead of the 2018-19 season.
