Manchester United are reportedly keen to push through their desire to sign Real Madrid youngster Marco Asensio in the summer but they might have to compete with Liverpool.

The Reds are believed to be making efforts to capture the 22-year-old impressive striker ahead of their Premier League rivals this summer.

According to a report from Spanish media outlet Don Balon, Manchester United were linked with the player’s services in January but there was no contractual agreement between both clubs ( Real Madrid and Manchester United).

Asensio has been impressive for the Galaticos since he joined the team in 2014, scoring 21 goals and 10 assists after 91 matches he’s played so far.

The Spaniard renewed his contract with the Los Blancos in September last year in a deal which would see him leave Santiago Bernabeu for a whopping sum of £438m.

Though Asensio is a joy to watch while in action for the European giants, he wasn’t given many first-team actions by the then-manager Zinedine Zidane, who preferred a frontline that consist, Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema.

Asensio once told reporters that he will be leaving Santiago Bernabeu this summer as he wants to play more regularly in the upcoming season.

His next club remains unclear as Mourinho and Klopp won’t want to trigger his £438m release clause.
