Chelsea Target Roma Star, Not Alisson Becker
Former Premier League Champions Chelsea are reportedly interested in Roma star player Kostas Manolas according to report.
The Blues were listed among clubs who are vying for Alisson’s signature as they prepare for life after Thibaut Courtois should the Belgian sign for Real Madrid after the World Cup.
However, Roman Abramovich has turned his attention away from the Brazilian netminder as he is reportedly seeking a move for Greek defender Kostas Manolas.
The defender was effective at the back of the pitch for the Eusebio’s team throughout last season.
According to Romanews, the defender has emerged as Chelsea’s top transfer target due to his growing reputation as one of the best defenders in the world.
Chelsea will need to release a fee worth €38 million if they must complete his signature before the end of the transaction period.
Kostas Manolas was awesome throughout Roma’s run in last season’s Champions League competition, his goal was all that the Serie A side needed to defeat Barcelona in the quarterfinal round of the competition, despite losing 3-1 in the first leg at Camp Nou.
The player’s representative Ioannis Angelopoulos revealed that Manolas is being tracked by the Blues.
