Brazilian targeted by Liverpool
Liverpool have identified Brazilin Lucas Paqueta as a viable alternative for Nabil Fekir.
Fekir appeared poised to complete a 53 million pounds move to Merseyside this summer but the Reds pulled the plug on the deal at the last minute due to the Frenchman failing a medical and his club not keen on renegotiating his transfer fee.
Reds manager Jurgen Klopp is keen on moving on the saga and reports from Brazilian news outlet Calcioinsider claims the German boss has earmarked Lucas Paqueta as a suitable alternative to the France International.
The 20-year-old stars in the Brazilian local league and is regarded as one of South America’s brightest talents after stellar displays for Flamengo this term.
And reports from another Brazilian outlet had previously claimed the youngster representatives flew to London earlier on to hold talks on a possible move to Europe’s top clubs.
Liverpool though have emerged as major suitors for the forward and would not be deterred by the 43 million pounds release clause entailed in his contract.
Guinea midfielder Naby Keita and Lucas fellow countryman, Fabinho have already completed moves to the Reds from RB Leipzig and AS Monaco respectively and Klopp is reportedly still bent on replacing the departed Coutinho this summer
