West London Club Chelsea are linked with a surprise move for PSG star Edison Cavani this summer as part of their search for Alvaro Morata’s replacement.
The Uruguayan striker is one of the best strikers in the French Ligue 1 and he will surely be a better upgrade to Morata, who flopped in the previous season.
According to Don Balon, Madrid president Florentino Perez was among the stands in yesterday’s Uruguay’s world cup opener against Egypt to monitor the player’s performance.
The encounter ended 1-0 in favor of the North American side, though Cavani did little to help his teammates as he wasn’t given much of the ball.
The Spanish media outlet reported that Madrid president is considering moving for the Paris Saint-Germain striker as part of his proposed overhauling process which could see Karim Benzema leave the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium this summer.
With Real Madrid’s interest in the striker, Chelsea could miss out on his signature considering the fact that the Los Blancos will be involved in next season’s Champions League competition.
Unlike the La Liga giants, Chelsea are only going to be featuring in the Europa League next season and that isn’t a good factor to convince Edison to choose a game move to Stamford Bridge ahead of Santiago Bernabeu.
Tuttosport reports that PSG are ready to sanction his move away from the club as long as his suitors are willing to pay €70m for his services.
