Roman Abramovich has reportedly activated star player’s release clause.
Chelsea have reportedly activated the 44 million euros release clause of Roma’s defender Kostas Manolas.
The Greek centre-back had an impressive campaign last term, establishing himself as one of Serie A foremost defenders and further endearing himself to Roma fans by scoring the pivotal goal that knocked out Barcelona in the quarter finals stages of the just concluded Champions League.
However, his impressive contributions for the Giallorossi have subsequently attracted attention from a host of clubs vying to shore up their defensive options ahead of the 2018 -2019 campaign
And reports from Italian news outlet, Sport italia have claim Chelsea have put in a bid of 44 million pounds which is reportedly above the 39 million euros release clause entailed in the contract he signed last summer
The same reports also claim the Blues offer would apparently not be rejected by the Italian club who are in desirous need for funds though the star player could snub the advances of the London club
Manolas scored twice in 30 appearances for the capital club and Chelsea are reportedly keen on pairing the Greece International with Antony Rudiger in what should be a formidable partnership ahead of next campaign.
