Premier League giants Manchester United are on the verge of capturing another player before the start of the Russia 2018 World Cup which begins tomorrow.
The Old Trafford outfits had captured the services of Brazilian midfielder Fred and also Dalot last week, but they are still actively involved in the ongoing transfer window.
According to the Sun, Mourinho might finally acquire the signature of his longtime target Toby Alderweireld in two days time.
The British publication, who has been monitoring Mourinho’s keen interest in the Belgian star, are reporting that the Portuguese is all but set to officially confirm the signing of the 29-year-old player as his third summer signing.
The report also suggests that Mourinho has reached an agreement with the North London club to pay not less than £70m for his signature.
Should Alderweireld move to Old Trafford, he would be receiving a whopping sum of €346,000 as his weekly salary in the upcoming season.
The centre-back didn’t get much action on the field of play throughout last season due to the hamstring injury he picked up in the early part of the season.
Alderweireld has over the years proven to be one of the best defenders the Premier League can produce. His no-nonsense tackles and clearances were missing in Mourinho’s team throughout last season.
Alderweireld and Eric Bailly’s combination would definitely be a hard nut to crack for many strikers in the upcoming season.
