Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini has emerged as a surprise target for Arsenal, according to the Sun on Wednesday.
The Belgian midfielder is believed to be heading out of Old Trafford in the summer as both Arsenal and Juventus are knocking on the door for his services.
The Serie A Champions are linked with his signature since last winter summer but they are waiting until the summer so as to get him without paying any sum of money.
Arsenal on the other hand, are uncertain over their chances of retaining Jack Wilshere and Aaron Ramsey beyond this summer .
The Gunners are hoping to lure the Belgian to the Emirates Stadium should they eventually fail to convince both players to stay for more seasons.
The Belgian is presently focus on helping the ‘Begian’s golden generation’ to the summer World Cup trophy by the end of next month.
However, former Arsenal player Pires has called on Unai Emery to make sure he capture the 30-year-old midfielder so as to bolster his team at the center of the pitch.
Pires admitted that last season was a forgettable one for Fellaini, who had sour relationship with Mourinho throughout last campaign.
According to him, the Belgian would be a great addition to the Gunners squad due to his obvious qualities which he portrayed during his time at Everton.
“But I think he’s a good player, if he wants to join Arsenal I think it would be good news.”he said.
