Former Manchester United defender Jonny Evans has finally put to bed the uncertainty surrounding his future after signing a £3.5m deal with Leicester City.
The Foxes confirmed this morning via their official website that they have successfully beaten Manchester United and Arsenal to the player’s signature.
Evans, 36, is one of the most experienced defenders in the Premier League but his wealth of experience and his lively performances for West Brom during last season wasn’t enough to save the Baggies from being relegated to the Championship next season.
The Sun reported during winter transfer market, that the Gunners are hoping to sign him from the Baggies but their former manager, Arsene Wenger was waiting till the end of the season so as to acquire his services for as low as £3m.
Meanwhile, the same sport Journal also linked the Northern Ireland international with a return to Old Trafford but nothing materializes between both clubs.
While reacting to his surprise move to the King Power Stadium despite interest from top clubs, Evans told reporters that he is happy to join the former Premier League Champions.
According to him, Leicester City are one of the clubs who secretly showed interest in him and he is pleased to sign for the Claude Puel’s side ahead of next season.
With his experience as a centre-back, Evans would easily be integrated into the club’s starting lineup by Puel in the upcoming season.
