Arsenal complete signing of Swizz star.
Stephan Lichtsteiner has been announced as the club’s latest signing.
The veteran full-back has been linked with a move to the Gunners in recent weeks, with sources recently claiming the Swizz international was on the verge of signing with Arsenal on a free transfer
The Switzerland International expressed his desire to part ways with recently crowned Serie A Champions Juventus this summer and has finally opted for the Gunners ahead of Unai Emery first season in charge at the helm of the club.
Lichtsteiner has made over 3oo appearances for the Turin side, winning seven straight league titles for the Bianconeri. However, the defender was keen on testing himself elsewhere after more than a decade in Italy.
Reports claim Arsenal manager Unai Emery is intent on bolstering his defensive options clearly shortened of captain Laurent Koscielny to a long-term injury and the retirement of Per Mertesacker.
The signing of Lichtsteiner to Arsenal should go a long way in curbing the club’s worrisome defensive inadequacies, however, his move could possibly re-ignite rumours right-back Hector Bellerin could set to leave the Emirates this summer amid rumours Manchester city and La Liga champions Barcelona were interested in the Spaniard.
