Manchester United and their Premier League rivals Tottenham are both on their toes over Mateo Kovacic’s signature.
The Real Madrid and Croatian striker has endured a bittersweet experience at Santiago Bernabeu since his move to the club in 2015 from Inter Milan.
His first season with the La Liga giants was less successful as he could only manage just eight starts.
His second spell at Madrid was a bit better than his debut season with the Los Blancos as he started 19 matches with the team and his overall play was lively throughout the season.
Last season was a total turnaround for the midfielder, his performance was topnotch and that has endeared him to many top clubs in Europe.
Despite his impressive displays for the Zinedine Zidane’s side last season, the 24-year-old Croatian future is not certain at Santiago Bernabeu and he could be moving out of the team after the world cup.
While speaking to FourFourTwo, the player revealed his desire to get more regular first-team actions in the coming season, irrespective of the club he plays for.
‘I believe I’ll play more, whether in Real or somewhere else Now is the time for me to play.’ he said.
He told reporters that he would definitely be moving out of Real Madrid if he won’t be given much game-time by the club’s incoming season.
Having said that, Tottenham and United are now making move to sign him in the summer but it is left to Florentino Perez to determine the player’s future before the end of the summer transfer window.
