Manchester United manager José Mourinho could confirm Golovin’s signature anytime soon, according to the Sun.
The Portuguese manager was in the stands when Austria defeated Russia 1-0 in an international friendly match. Mourinho was believed to have attended the game so as to watch Marko Arnautovic and Golovin in action.
Golovin, 22, has been lively for CSKA Moscow since he broke into the team’s first-team squad in 2014. The young midfielder has managed to find the back of the net in 13 occasions since his debut match for the Moscow-based club.
Manchester United and Spain veteran midfielder Juan Mata is in the final year of his contract with the Red Devils and he’s tipped to move out of the club this summer having failed to start many matches under Mourinho last term.
With the Spaniard’s reported move to La Liga next season, Mourinho has identified Golovin as his perfect replacement ahead of next season.
Though the Russian is not known for high goalscoring ratio, his long-range passes and ability to provide more shield for the defenders will surely make him a great signing for the Old Trafford outfits. He is reportedly going to cost nothing less than £15m.
Meanwhile, the Sun also reports that Mourinho was also present during the friendly encounter so as to access Marko Arnautovic’s performance.
The Portuguese manager has reportedly developed an interest in the Austrian star and he will be hoping to capture his services after his impressive display against Russia.
