Chelsea have encountered another setback in their desire to capture Real Madrid target Robert Lewandowski, who currently plays for Bayern Munich.
The Polish striker is being tipped to leave Allianz Arena this summer as he has reportedly told the club’s hierarchy of his desire to move on with his career elsewhere.
His agent Zahavi told reporters last month that his client is willing to move to another club before the start of next season. According to him, Lewy wants another challenge after spending four years with the Bundesliga giants.
Chelsea are said to be eyeing a possible move for his signature after the World cup but they are now set to face huge challenges from the club’s hierarchy, who are unwilling to let go of the proven goalscorer.
The Bavarian hierarchy are not ready to partway with the 151—goal hero as they maintain their stand that he would see-out his contract with the club.
Lewandowski is still contracted with the Allianz Arena outfits till 2021.
Real Madrid are also in the race for the player’s signature. The Los Blancos were unconvincing in the League throughout the last term as they failed to defend their La Liga title.
Though Benzema was one of the goalscorers in Madrid’s 3-1 victory over Liverpool in the Champions League final, the Frenchman is reportedly set to leave Santiago Bernabeu this summer. His departure will, therefore, create space for Lewandowski in Zidane’s starting lineup should Munich eventually rescind their decision.
However, according to The Telegraph Sports, the Blues are not ready to give up in their race to beat Madrid to the 29-year-old’s signature.
