Liverpool are set to offer a new contract to their young defender Joe Gomez in the summer after having an impressive outing in the 2017-18 season.
The youngster was one of the bright prospects in the Reds defence this season, ensuring that he partners with Virgil Van Dijk to prevent opponents from scoring cheap goals.
As a reward for his stellar performances, the club’s hierarchy are reportedly willing to offer him a new contract which will see him receive £50,000 as weekly wages.
The 21-year-old was destined to make England’s World Cup squad in the summer but he picked up an unfortunate injury against Italy during the last international friendly match which ultimately ruled him out of the world’s greatest football fiesta in Russia.
However, Jurgen Klopp is ready to integrate him into his first-team squad next season due to his form.
At just 21, Gomez has appeared in three matches for the Three Lions and he will surely be an integral part of the team in no time.
According to the Sun, Liverpool are ready to tie him down and they want to offer him a long-term contract which is believed to keep him for five years.
The 21-year-old was able to play 31 matches for the Reds in all competitions this season before the unfortunate injury ruled him out for the rest of the season.
