Four days after winning his second consecutive trophy as Chelsea manager, Antonio Conte is set to be officially sacked by Roman Abramovich in the coming hours.
According to reports emanating from the manager’s hometown via CalcioMercato, Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is not contended with the manager’s attitude towards the club’s ‘big players’ and is now set to show him the exit door before the end of today.
It should be recalled that Conte had a crunch disagreement with Eden Hazard after the team’s 1-0 defeat to Manchester City, who are the eventual Premier League.
Apart from Hazard, Conte was also involved in a dressing-room misunderstanding with Brazil international David Luiz, who questioned the manager’s tactical approach to games.
Conte’s managerial qualities are never in doubt as he has proven during his time at Juventus before heading to Stamford Bridge, but his relationship with players and his employers seem to be his shortcomings.
However, it remains yet to be seen who would fill up the vacuum which would be created by Conte’s departure.
As at the time of this report, Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri is reportedly leading the race to become Conte’s successor but anything can happen just as we’ve seen with Arsenal, who have officially announced Unai Emery has their new boss.
