Having rescinded their decision to hire former Manchester City’s assistant manager Mikel Arteta, Arsenal board of directors are now set to declare Unai Emery as Wenger’s replacement in a couple of days.
Despite winning the Ligue 1 title this season, Unai Emery was shown the exit door by Paris St-German hierarchy and he was immediately replaced with Tomas Tuchel.
According to reports, Arsenal are on the verge of announcing the hiring of the Spanish manager while he would be assisted by his compatriot, Mikel Arteta.
Should everything go as planned, Emery — who is reportedly in the final phase of discussion with Arsenal — would be officially unveiled as the next Gunners boss.
Having spent two years at the Parc Des Princes Stadium, Emery has developed a strong relationship with some of his players and that would help him in bringing some of them to the Emirates Stadium in the summer.
One player who could be heading to the North London club with the Spanish tactician is Germany international winger Julian Draxler.
The 24-year-old has been a source of transfer speculation for a very long time as he was sometimes linked with Chelsea, Liverpool, Juventus and Manchester United.
Though he still has two years left on his contract, Unai Emery could easily convince him to move to the Gunners, who are yet to find a perfect and long-term replacement for Alexis Sanchez who joined Manchester United last Winter.
With his versatility, Draxler would surely be a great addition to Arsenal team in the upcoming season. He can comfortably operate as a right-winger, left-winger and as a playmaker.
