Real Madrid are keenly interested in luring Liverpool striker Mohammed Salah to the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in the summer and they are ready to do everything possible to see that the deal materialize.
As part of their zeal to acquire his signature ahead of next season, the Los Blancos have reportedly offered their want-away striker Karim Benzema as part of the deal so as to convince the Merseyside club to release the 44-goal hero.
Having seen how desperate the European Champions are going concerning Salah’s signature, former Madrid sporting director Mijatovic, who was in the position for three years, has advised Perez not to be too eager to sign the Egyptian.
According to him, Salah is not a player who should make Madrid ‘Go crazy’ despite his goalscoring feat at Liverpool.
He admitted that the player is a great striker but he could find it difficult to settle into Zidane’s squad, should he eventually join the Los Blancos in the summer.
“You do not know how he’ll adapt. Madrid is different, a club where it is difficult to succeed.” he said
He however advised Zidane to give Marco Asensio, Isco and Gareth Bale more game-time on the pitch, if he wants to get more decent results next season.
“I do not know if Madrid should go crazy for him at this moment, because they have important young players, like [Marco] Asensio or Isco, and we do not know what’s going to happen with [Gareth] Bale.” he said.
Mijatovic further points out that Salah has had an inconsistent performance over the years, pointing out that his stay at Stamford Bridge was a failure as he failed to establish himself as a regular starter in José Mourinho’s squad in the 2014-15 season.
“He played well at Basel, Chelsea bought him and it did not work, in Rome he played well but not at this level, and now, all of a sudden, [his quality] comes out.” he concluded.
