Manchester United José Mourinho is set to reignite his interest in Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann in the summer.
The Frenchman was heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford in last winter transfer period but the deal didn’t push through due to FIFA ban on the La Liga side.
According to Don Balon, the Portuguese manager still has the desire to work with the 27-year-old next season.
Griezmann has — once again — shown his class this season after finding the back of the net in 27 occasions for the Roji Blancos in all competitions.
Despite having many World-class attacking players in his present squad, the Red Devils manager remain keen on adding the attacker to his team ahead of Barcelona, who are also Griezmann’s longtime admirer.
Don Balon also reports that Mourinho is ready to beat Ernesto Valverde to the player’s signature as he has reportedly tabled £88m(€100m)— a deal too much for Atletico to reject.
Should Mourinho sign the Frenchman in the summer, he could force either Marcus Rashford or Anthony Martial out of Old Trafford as one of the two players will have to create space for him in the manager’s first-team squad.
Mourinho’s men will be at home to Watford later today in the last match of the season. The match is just a mere formality as there is nothing to fight for. City are already the League Champions while the Red Devils have earlier cemented their place as the runner-up.
