Mohamed Fekir, the father of Lyon superstar Nabil Fekir, has denied the reports that suggested the youngster has agreed to join the Merseyside club next term.
It was reported on Tuesday that the Frenchman has agreed to a £62m deal to join the Reds in the summer despite interest from Arsenal, but that appeared to be one of the unavailable propaganda that always goes with player’s signature.
According to Mohammed, his son has never travelled to Liverpool to sign a pre-contract deal in the past week and they are yet to reach an agreement with his son.
He further revealed that though Liverpool are making move to lure his son to the Anfield stadium as part of their search for a capable Coutinho’s replacement, there is nothing official between both parties.
“Nabil in Liverpool, that’s wrong,” he said . I hear there are arrangements, stuff like that… I was surprised. I can deny this information right now. It’s not true. Otherwise Nabil would have told me right away, we are very close.” he said.
Fekir, on his part, told newsmen that he didn’t agree to a contract with the Reds but there are possibilities that he would be moving out of Ligue 1 by the end of the season with the Premier League tipped as his next destination.
With the report, Arsenal sporting director Sven Mislintant will now double his efforts to ensure he beat Liverpool to the 24-year-old’s signature ahead of next season.
