Arsenal Edge Closer To Bernd Leno’s Signature ; Held Talks With Him
This season could turn out to be the end of Petr Cech’s reign as Arsenal first-choice goalkeeper as the Gunners were understood to have held talks with Bayern Leverkusen over the release of their netminder Bernd Leno.
The reports emanating from the Bundesliga club through Bild, confirmed that Arsenal are in concrete discussions with Bernd Leno over the possibility of luring him to the Emirates stadium.
The German publication also revealed that the North London club have already tabled a £22m contract deal for Leno’s signature but it is yet to be accepted by Leverkusen, who believes the goalie is more valuable than Arsenal’s offer.
Though the Gunners are yet to know their next manager, former Borussia Dortmund’s sporting director Sven Mislintant is ready to ensure he provides a strong squad for the incoming manager.
Despite having a discussion with the goalie, Arsenal fans shouldn’t be happy yet as the keeper hasn’t fully decide his next destination between Atletico Madrid and Arsenal.
Petr Cech looked to have passed his prime this season after series of errors from the Czech international and Arsenal might be forced to sanction his move out of the club once they capture Bern Leno’s signature.
