Manchester United are set to boost their midfield in the summer as they are reportedly closer to confirming a deal for Lazio midfielder Sergeant Milinkovic-Savic, who is rated £80m by transfermarkt.
The 23-year-old Serbian international joined the Italian side in 2015 and has been a great addition to the club especially this season, where he has scored 13 goals in all competitions. His exploits this season has put him into limelight and many clubs including Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United are all vying for his signature.
Though he is valued at £80m – a value that looks too high for a player of his age and experience, he would definitely be a perfect addition to José Mourinho’s team who are in dire need of another midfielder to play alongside less-impressive Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic who has had a wonderful debut season with the Old Trafford outfits.
According to the Sun, Manchester United are hoping to complete a deal for his service before the summer World Cup begins in Russia, so as to avoid paying an increased amount should he perform brilliantly for the Serbian National team.
With Michael Carrick’s retirement and Fellaini’s reported move to Juventus , Milinko-Savic would easily walk straight into Mourinho’s starting lineup should he eventually decide to join the Red part of Manchester in the summer.
