Arsenal and England international versatile midfielder Jack Wilshere is believed to still wants to remain at the Emirates stadium for another season depending on the outcome of his discussion with the club’s hierarchy over his contact’s saga.
According to Sky Sports, the 26-year-old is hoping the Gunners resolve his contract issues so as to continue playing for the club he truly loves.
The British media outlet also suggests that Arsenal board are doing all they could to reach a solid agreement with the rejuvenated midfielder so as to award him a new contract extension deal before the start of next season.
Wilshere is in the last season of his current contract with Arsenal and he could be moving to any club of his choice as a free agent by the end of the season but the Gunners are willing to prevent that from happening as they are reportedly set to offer him a £100k-a-week contract which is against their initial ‘pay-as-you-play’ contract offered him during the winter transfer period.
The longest serving player in Arsenal’s present squad has rejuvenated his career after a torrid first half of the season when he rarely gets comes off the substitute bench.
Should he eventually sign a new contract, Wilshere would be hoping to make his experience count in next season’s pre-season tour so as to convince Wenger’s successor that he deserves more first-team action when the next season begins properly.
