Former Arsenal star striker Thierry Henry has urged the club’s incoming manager to ensure he makes some high-profile signings in the summer, if he must lay claim for the League trophy in the coming season.
The Frenchman while speaking to Sky Sports, believes there is a need for the Gunners to get a new goalkeeper; a full-back and a holding midfielder, who would complement Mesut Ozil at the middle of the pitch.
It was reported last night that Arsenal are eyeing a possible move for Bayern Leverkusen netminder Bernd Leno due to Cech’s uninspiring display which led to too many cheap goals throughout the season.
According to Henry, the current squad is made of top quality players who can compete for a lot of trophies in the upcoming season as long as the incoming manager introduced a winning mentality into his players.
“I think that the squad that’s there is good enough to compete, ” he said.
Having said that, the legend continued by advising the team to get a quality goalkeeper, a full-back and one holding midfielder so as to reinforce the squad ahead of next season.
“They didn’t compete recently, that’s a bit of a problem. I still think that if you look at it, there is going to be question marks over the goalkeeper, centre-back, maybe a holding midfielder.” he concluded.
Many fans would hoping that Arsenal return back to their tittle-winning form in the 2018-19 season under new manager who would eventually win the race for the Gunners managerial post.
Arsenal last won the league trophy in 2004 with an invincible performance as they claimed an unbeaten run through to the glory.
