It is widely believed that former Barcelona manager Luis Enrique will be heading to the Emirates Stadium next season as Wenger’s replacement as he is currently having a roundtable discussion with the club’s officials.
According to The Sun, there could be a twist to their discussions which could prevent the deal from happening as the manager seems to be asking for a very high fund to support his transfer plans should he move to the North London club in the summer.
Arsene Wenger is known for not spending too much during transfer Markets because he has much trust in the club’s academy products and that has been working for him until recent seasons in which the team have failed to finish among the top four clubs in the Premier League table.
Though Wenger would be leaving in the summer, Arsenal hierarchy remain stick to the philosophy, therefore they are not ready to release as much as £200m to the Spaniard to sign new players.
Should Enrique finally reach an agreement with Arsenal’s representatives, the Sun report that he is going to make a complete change to Arsenal first-team squad with only Mesut Ozil, Alexandre Lacazette and record-signing Emerick Aubameyang sure of keeping their spot in the team ahead of next season.
Meanwhile, former Real Madrid, Chelsea and Bayern Munich manager Carlo Ancelotti could get a look-in from the Gunners should they fail to sign Luis Enrique. The Italian has reportedly rejected the chance to become Italy national team as he hope to replace Wenger in the summer.
