Newly crowned Premier League Champions Manchester City are set to be joined by their neighbours United in the race for Napoli midfielder Jorginho this summer.
Despite having a midfield full of in-form world-class players, Pep Guardiola is believed to have made an approach to the player’s agent so as to lure him to the Etihad Stadium in the summer before the start of next season.
Having won the league this season, the Spanish manager will be under intense pressure to defend it in the upcoming season and he is hoping to bolster his team’s overall display by adding some proven players-including Jorginho- to his squad in the next transfer period.
Though the Red Devils haven’t done too bad at the middle of the park this season, Portuguese manager José Mourinho is eyeing a move for the 26-year-old Italian midfielder to complement Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic according to the Daily Star.
Jorginho has been in perfect form for the Naples this season, he has scored two goals and has recorded four assists in 29 league matches.
With Yaya Toure’s speculated move out of the Etihad stadium by the close of the season, Guardiola believes Jorginho will be a perfect replacement for the Ivorian midfield maestro.
Meanwhile, Manchester United are currently preparing for the much-anticipated clash against Arsenal at Old Trafford on Sunday. José Mourinho will be up against of one of his greatest rivals Arsene Wenger and he will be hoping he defeats the Frenchman for the first time this season.
