Arsenal have shown their interest in Sporting fullback Cristiano Piccini and they have already made an official offer for his signature ahead of the upcoming season.
According to Portuguese media outlet, Jornal de Notícias, the FA Cup title holder believes the 25-year-old full-back will be a perfect solution to their defensive problems and they are hoping the Portuguese giants would accept their £20m bid when the summer transfer window begins.
Piccini joined Sporting Lisbon from Real Betis in a deal which is believed to be as low as £3m before the start of the season, therefore, they are reportedly happy to accept the Gunners knowing full well that they are bound to make huge profit should the deal materialize.
Though there is nothing finalized between both parties as at the time of this report, the North London club believe they stand a great chance of luring him to the Emirates Stadium before the start of next season.
Despite showing early interest in Piccini’s signature, West Ham United are set to lose out on his signature as the Gunners seem to have won the race for the player, who has a €45m release clause in his contract with the Lisbon side.
